The curtain came down on the 2025 Tees Valley Angling Association season with the final match held at Heron Pond, Tollerton near York. With the last chance to bag crucial league points, tensions were high, two separate battles were unfolding: one for 1st and 2nd, and another for 3rd and 4th in the overall league. Every fish counted, and every point mattered.

A strong turnout of 16 anglers faced a fairly mild November day, although a cold wind picked up in the afternoon to make things a bit more challenging. Despite that, there were still plenty of bites across the lake, with a few anglers finding good runs of fish.

Individual Results:

🥇 1st – Ian Hutchinson – 100lb 15oz
Fishing shallow with casters, clearly forgetting it’s November! Ian’s bold summer-style approach paid off brilliantly, cracking the ton mark for a well-deserved win.

🥈 2nd – Dan Howes – 69lb 9oz
Another angler sticking with summer tactics, Dan caught steadily on hard pellets to claim second place.

🥉 3rd – Col Dickerson – 51lb
A solid, consistent performance from Col rounded off the top three.

Section Winners:

  • Rob Wood

  • Craig Lowe (double default)

  • Daz Shanks (by default)

Doubles Competition:

This match also included a pairs (doubles) competition, which added an extra layer of excitement to the day.
🏆 1st – Ian Hutchinson & Barry Simpson – 115lb combined
Ian’s outstanding ton-plus weight, backed up by Barry’s contribution, gave them a clear victory in the pairs.

🥈 2nd – Dan Howes & Rob Wood – 109lb 8oz combined
A great team effort from Dan and Rob saw them finish a close second with just over 109lb between them.

League Standings:

The league points were just as important as the match results, with the top four anglers separated by only a handful of points going into the final day.

Jack Jones secured 4 section points, enough to crown him the 2025 Tees Valley Angling Association League Champion!

Rob Wood also scored 4 points but started the day two points behind, meaning he takes a well-earned 2nd place overall.

Meanwhile, Dan Howes’ 2nd place finish on the day and another 4 points was enough to hold off Gaz and Jonny, clinching 3rd place in the final standings.
