Monkton, Moor Monkton was the venue for match 8 of this leauge season.
With almost all anglers never seeing the venue before the day, first impression where key and the lakes didn’t disappoint. Very clean and tidy place, pegs and platforms in perfect conditions and the lakes themselves looking pristine. Alot of compliments from the lads before and after the match.
Spread over two lakes (Front and Cyprio) with 10 anglers on Front and 15 on the bigger Cyprio lake. Acko drawing a lovely looking Peg, home to some of the lake monsters and catfish renowned in Cyprio lake and two top anglers in Rob Wood and current leauge leader Jack Jones sat tidy on Golden pegs.
Once Jack had parked right behind his peg and managed to get this plummet caught on the island and Tomo fishing for grass carp on the same island the all in was called.
Front lake started strong, with Stu and Joe putting an early fish in the net each and the odd one coming out all around Front pond. Jordan Hunt mugged one early across whilst Jack, started putting a run together. Tomo manged to, again have a run in with the lakes greenery doing well to wrestle a carp out of the reids into his keep net.
Cyprio also producing some nice Carp, Clive Tyldesley or should I say Ian Galdders starting strong commentating every fish into the net. Jonny The Fridge netting a nice looking carp whilst Cal putting some fish on the bank fishing feeder across.
Match progressed with Jordan Hunt fishing behind him in the margin, plenty of bites but getting smashed under his platform losing plenty of hook lengths in the process. Cal coming short on worm again losing too many to put him in contention then Dan H margin coming to life helping him put a decent weight together the ever consistent Jack catching steady all day, even with carp going daft in his keepnet.
Everyone caught with a class spread of weight right across the match as was evident as the scales came round.
Well done to all the framers, section and lake winners. Well fished. Special mention to Mike Edwards taking 2nd on Front with 59lb 10oz.
