Match 13 2026 – Woodlands– Curlew & Wagtail

16 anglers headed to Woodland Lakes for the latest league match, with 8 anglers on each of Curlew and Wagtail Lakes, giving everyone plenty of room to fish.

The weather was kind to us, with a lovely sunny and calm day. Unfortunately, the fish weren’t quite as cooperative, and fishing proved hard for most anglers.

Curlew Lake Winner

There was one standout performance on Curlew, with Ian Hutchinson producing a massive 155lb 12oz from peg 12.

Ian was almost 100lb clear of the next closest angler on the lake, putting together an incredible weight on what was otherwise a difficult day.

Curlew Section Winners

Mike Edwards – Peg 16 – 50lb

Barry Simpson – Peg 4 – 63lb 1oz

Barry took his section by just 1lb 4oz from Dan Howes, after Dan had a 4lb fish jump out of his keepnet!

Wagtail Lake Winner

Over on Wagtail, it was Jack Jones who came out on top, taking the lake win from peg 20 with 71lb 5oz.

Acko – Peg 4 – 32lb 9oz

Sys – Peg 7 – 59lb 10oz

League Race

With both Ian Hutchinson and Jack Jones winning their respective lakes, the pair remain tied on points at the top of the league.

Ian does, however, continue to hold onto the lead on total weight, with just 5 matches remaining in the season.

The league is certainly getting interesting as we head into the final few rounds!

Pairs Match

This match also ran as a pairs competition, with Ian’s massive weight helping him and his partner Acko take the doubles win.

Next Match

The next match is in two weeks’ time on Sunday 6th September, when we head to Heron Lake at Tollerton Ponds.
