Woodlands hosted the first match of this year’s TVAA league, with 38 anglers spread across 5 lakes.
With the lakes recently redeveloped and a good head of fish including a stocking as recently as last week, it was set up for plenty of bites and fish to be caught.
The draw saw good anglers on every lake, eventual match winner Gaz and Jack battling it out on Swallow, Dragon Fly threw together Craig Kent and his biggest fan Peter Agar with Quill on Silver Birch, Andy Nesham and Jordan going at it on Mallard, Paul Nesham and Stu Sexton on Nytro getting an honorable mention.
Before the all in we had the first award boxed off. With Dan Howes going for a walk or wade through 3ft of mud, leaving behind his dignity and a pair of trainers!
Sun was shining on the all in and fish were coming out instantly, with Jack getting into them on the first put in, fishing across to the island, and fish were there to be caught! Craig on peg 28 Dragon fly had a run of fish but of small stamp, silver fish seemingly the order of the day for all anglers, Nytro and Silver Birch produced some big bream and roach! Carp also played their part and boosted the weights all round, with Joe mugging two (less said about the 2nd the better, only to be described as ‘That big’ one that got away, eh!)
A few showers drifted across throughout the afternoon, but the bites didn’t dry up, with fish coming out short and long with lads putting over 200+ fish in their nets.
As the scales came around, everyone had something to show, and thanks to all the lads who chipped in and helped with that.
