Sunday saw 22 anglers line up on the Arena Lake at Forest Lane for what turned out to be a lively day both in terms of fishing and weather! Things started off pleasantly enough with sunny spells and light winds, but everyone knew the forecast had something in store – and it didn’t disappoint. Just after 2pm, the heavens opened and the wind picked up, making for some challenging conditions right through the final whistle.
Despite the weather, the fishing was excellent with good weights recorded all around the lake. However, the gusty conditions did take their toll on a few anglers’ gear. By the end of the day, we had one broken number 3 section, one lost top kit, one broken top kit, and a few brollies that sadly didn’t survive the battle. Proper carnage!
Results:
🥇 1st – Rob Wood
Rob continues his impressive run of form, taking his third win on the bounce with an outstanding 213lb 10oz. A seriously dominant performance again!
🥈 2nd – Jack Jones
Drawn on the only corner peg on a round lake (you couldn’t make it up!), Jack put together 179lb – although rumour has it he only clicked 130lb, so we’re still trying to figure out where the other 49lb came from! 🤔😂
🥉 3rd – Jonny Richards
A strong showing from Jonny, weighing in 160lb 2oz, keeping himself well in the mix.
🏅 4th – Dan Howes
Another solid net, tipping the scales at 140lb 11oz.
Section Winners:
-
Tomo – 138lb 4oz, but unfortunately netted back to 132lb 5oz after going over in his nets. Still enough to take the section.
-
Gaz – 115lb 6oz, steady as ever
-
Rob Urry – 111lb 11oz, grabbing the default section win
-
Alan Youngman – 99lb 1oz, claiming a double default section
All in all, another top day despite the weather battering – and the tackle casualties! Thanks to everyone who turned out and braved the elements.
Next Match:
🗓️ Saturday 3rd August
📍 Redwood Park – on either Deadwood Lake or the Canal, depending on numbers.
Get your names down early – and maybe bring a spare brolly or two! 🎣☔
