This weekend saw the lads descend on The Don Lake at Forest Lane, a venue that’s been about as generous as a Yorkshireman buying a round lately. Despite its poor recent form, spirits were high (helped by the sun making a rare appearance).
Tomo was especially grateful for the sunshine – not for the fishing, but for the chance to finally even out that infamous Batman tan. By the end of the day, he was borderline Mediterranean.
The draw was a masterclass in efficiency – done by 8:02am. We’re not saying it was rushed, but some reckon the pegs were picked quicker than the England football squad.
To put it bluntly, it was hard going for most – bites were few and far between. But credit where it’s due: everyone managed to put fish in the net, so no DNWs and no excuses (well, fewer than usual).
Results:
🥇 1st – Dan Howes with a cracking 84lb 7oz. Solid performance from Dan, showing the rest how it’s done.
🥈 2nd – Alan Gladders weighed in 67lb 4oz – always consistent, even when the lake isn’t.
🥉 3rd – Ian Gladders 63lb 7oz. A strong performance from Ian, quietly putting together a tidy net and sliding into the top three without making a fuss.
Section Winners:
🎯 Acko – despite the score sheet trying to rename him, Acko fished well and claimed his section. We’ll get it right next time… maybe.
🎯 Quill – took his section win by default. Sometimes turning up really is half the battle.
🎯 Rob Wood – another steady performance.
🎯 Rob Urry – solid as ever.
