18 hardy anglers turned out for this weekend’s match at Moor Monkton Pools, spread across the Cyprio and Front lakes. Autumn has definitely settled in now — chilly overnight temperatures greeted us, and a thick blanket of fog hung around for the draw. Once it cleared, though, we were treated to a surprisingly mild and sunny day for the time of year.
Before the all-in, there was a bit of extra entertainment as Anders decided to “test the water” — quite literally! In what can only be described as a bold pre-match ritual, he managed to dip more than just a toe… going in halfway up his leg. Safe to say, he confirmed the water was indeed cold.
Fishing was tough going across both lakes, with low weights showing just how tricky the conditions were. Bites were at a premium, and every fish counted.

With only two matches left in the league, things are really heating up — just one point separates 1st and 2nd place, so every point will matter in the final matches!
Well done to all who stuck it out — especially given the tricky conditions (and the occasional dip).
The next match is in two weeks at Eden Grange. Spaces are limited for this one, so make sure to get your names to Jack as soon as possible!
